Jefferson County’s Golden office runs a four-day week, closed Fridays, and its booking system allows later appointment dates and times than the county’s own page actually states.
Where to go
Jefferson County Government Center, 100 Jefferson County Pkwy Suite 2560, Golden, CO 80419. Golden is the town where Jefferson County’s offices sit, not a separate county. Open Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, closed Fridays.
Open in Google Maps (opens in a new tab)Booking calendar opens days ahead, but walk-ins work too
Jefferson County’s own page says its booking calendar opens 21 days in advance, refreshed daily, through the county’s Qmatic booking portal. In practice, the booking system itself lets you book up to 28 days out, later than what the county’s page states, so don’t assume 21 days is the actual cutoff if you’re trying to lock in a date. Walk-ins are also genuinely accepted any time the office is open, though Mondays run busiest.
Similarly, the county’s page describes appointment hours ending at 3 PM, but the booking system itself allows booking slots as late as 4:30 PM. Treat the site’s stated hours as a floor, not a hard cutoff, and check the live booking calendar for what’s actually available.
Fill out the pre-application first
Jefferson County’s online marriage application can be completed before you arrive. See how to fill in the license application for the general tips that apply here too.
If you don’t have a Social Security number
Fill in Jefferson County’s Social Security Number Affidavit for Marriage License Application. It’s a one-page PDF, and each partner without a Social Security number needs their own copy.
The form asks for three things:
- Your legal name
- Your date of birth
- Your signature
That’s all. There’s no notary block, no stamp, and no line for a clerk to witness it, so you can fill it in and sign it before your appointment. Bring it with you and hand it in with your license application.
What it costs
- License fee: $30.
- Certified copy of the certificate: $1.25, with a $1.00 processing fee if paid by card. Cash and check are confirmed accepted for the license fee itself; whether card carries the same surcharge for the $30 fee specifically isn’t separately confirmed.
Contact
- Phone (records, marriage licensing): 303-271-8121
- Web contact form, if you’d rather not call
No dedicated marriage-license email address is published; the options above are what the office offers.
While you’re in Golden
Downtown Golden’s Washington Avenue, a walkable historic district along Clear Creek with shops and breweries, connects to the Government Center by a paved trail. A reasonable stop before or after your appointment, with the foothills as a backdrop.
